Design Manager RoleThe design manager will engage with a multi-disciplinary team to shape how design management is carried out on their projects. This role would suit a Lead Consultant or Project Architect wanting to step into a design management role.
Design Manager - Responsibilities- Apply professional Design Management across projects.
- Show ambition and a willingness to work flexibly, both in their regional offices and on-site.
- Develop personal growth opportunities for the team.
- Maintain quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards and recommending system improvements.
- A good understanding of the RIBA Plan of Work and experience through pre- and post-contract stages - RIBA 1 - 6.
- Defining design programmes, design deliverables and communications across multiple complex projects.
- Supporting the Lead Consultant in project administration and reporting.
- Leading design team meetings with internal and external consultants.
- Supporting Client technical approval processes and internal quality assurance.
- Leading the Design team to ensure projects are set up for success.
Design Manager Role - Requirements- Degree Qualified - Architecture
- RIBA Chartered Membership
- Managing design teams and projects as Lead Consultant.
- Relevant design industry experience, with a background on large complex projects, such as Architecture or Engineering, ideally with chartered status.
- Be proficient in the use of digital tools to manage the design process such as MS Excel, MS Project, and document management platforms.
- Experience of defining BIM deliverables and design programming is advantageous.
- Be a pro-active leader of teams with excellent attention to detail.
- Be able to work autonomously on projects and have confidence in managing large design teams.
- Adaptable to work on a range of project sectors and scales.
