What you will be doing

An exciting opportunity for a Design Integrator has arisen in the Product Design - Integrated Systems Team. Integrated Systems provide designs and design capability for systems which are made up of components from multiple areas of the design organisation. We primarily deliver systems outside of the gas path using Structures, Externals, Control System Units, and Turbomachinery components.

The Integrated Systems team is part of the Product Design organisation and has close synergies and working opportunities with both Component Design, System Design and Fluid Systems. The remit of the team includes not only support of the future programmes' teams but also the other projects within civil and defence aerospace. Integrated Systems have responsibility for the various air, oil, fuel, hydraulic, electrical and powerplant systems deployed on the engine.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. It's a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we're all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

Responsibilities

• Apply understanding of gas turbine product operation, product systems, sub-systems and interactions to create one or more concept design options capable of meeting the customer needs (balancing and trading attributes)
• Design of systems using Systems Engineering principals including the use of Robust Design tools & techniques to achieve optimum solutions at product and sub-system level. Integration and management of interfaces
• Problem resolution experience including ownership of, for example: root cause investigations, problem reports, Red Tops, Safety Alert Reports (SARs), Quality Concerns, Major Quality Investigations (MQIs), Drawing Alteration Requests (DARs)
• Elicitation, documentation and management of technical requirements
• Planning and management of product change, design technical approval and technical investigations
• Verifying that the system meets the requirements and ownership of standardisation reports
• Work with and co-ordinate extended (i.e. not necessarily co-located) multi-disciplinary teams

• As an Integrated Systems Design Engineer, you will need a Bachelor's degree or Master's in Engineering or regional equivalent qualification, a passion to succeed and a vision of how to create a profitable system architecture.
• Experienced CAD user (NX) with a track record of producing three dimensional models of a high standard
• Experience/knowledge of requirements management, MBSE and systems design tools such DOORS, Capella, DFMEA
• Strong technical knowledge in mechanical design methodologies and have an understanding of cross-discipline engineering concepts which include but are not limited to manufacturing engineering, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, thermal and mechanical analysis, cost engineering and product definition.
• Knowledge and experience of product integrity / liability and certification frameworks
• Possessing general understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to the business and an ability to conduct early stage "Design for Manufacture/Assembly/Cost" activities
• Membership of a relevant professional body appropriate to region. In the UK - attained/ working towards Chartered status is preferred (and equivalent regional variations)
