Job description

COMPANY PROFILE, DESCRIPTION, AND SCOPE OF ROLE

Providing bespoke industrial / Process heating solutions extensively within Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, and other Industrial environments. Our client is a global business and a world-class leader in their field, and have been established for over sixty years. Due to continued growth, they're seeking to appoint a dynamic and innovative Design Engineer to play a critical role in the design of bespoke industrial / process heating systems. You will also be involved in heat tracing isometrics, panel board and cable schedules, wiring diagrams, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and location plans. Working closely with other designers, engineers, and project managers, you will work on multiple projects.

NB: Potential for an element of hybrid working via agreement post induction / onboarding.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Review all project specifications and documentation necessary to develop a thorough understanding of the scope of work.
  2. Follow project requirements, along with expectations on quality, schedule or other restrictions of a technical nature.
  3. Follow established processes and procedures including Project Design guide, Project Execution Guide, Quality Plan and provide input where deficiencies occur.
  4. Maintain the Project Design folder structure.
  5. Provide input in the development of Global and Regional tools and procedures as required.
  6. Interact and engage with customer representatives on technical issues.
  7. Create and review drawings using AutoCAD, MicroStation as well as other in-house software systems and/or methodology.
  8. Prepare and review drawings for accuracy; check and approve drawings prepared by other designers.
  9. Conduct site surveys to gather information required for heat tracing design.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES AND REQUIREMENTS:

ESSENTIAL:
  1. Proven experience as a Designer or Design Engineer in Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, Renewables or Pharma or similar industries.
  2. Bachelor's Degree of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or similar technical education.
  3. Technically proficient in drafting drawings in AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  4. Advanced experience with MS Office skills.
  5. Working technical knowledge of electricity (Ohm's Law, voltage, amperage, circuits).
  6. Working technical knowledge of piping and insulation systems and components.
  7. Working knowledge of P&IDs (Piping & Instrument Diagrams).
  8. Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and meet deadlines.
  9. Highly organised with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  10. Able to generate new ideas, challenge the status quo, take risks, support change, encourage innovation, and solve problems creatively.

DESIRABLE:
  1. Experience with heat trace design.
  2. Working knowledge of Codes and Standards that pertain to heat tracing (IEEE 515, IEC/IEEE (phone number removed)-1 NEC, IEC, etc.).

DETAILS OF SALARY / PACKAGE:

Basic Salary From £36,000 to £46,000 PA (Depending on exp) + Competitive Benefits inc. Health care + 27 days Holiday + Stats. NB: Potential for an element of hybrid working via agreement post induction / onboarding. Hours: Monday to Thursday 8.30 am to 5.00 pm, Friday 8.30 am to 3.45 pm
