The role

As a Design Engineer – Nuclear Process, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This role offers strong progression opportunities within a supportive, agile team that values development, flexibility, and continuous improvement.

Day-to-day, you’ll support the Facilities Engineering Technical Authority, delivering design and technical expertise across Devonport Royal Dockyard and MOD establishments.

  • Lead or contribute to engineering teams, planning tasks and driving progress
  • Produce and review design documentation and assessments
  • Develop and deliver designs through all project phases, ensuring legislative compliance
  • Advise on design documentation and adherence to standards and regulations
  • Perform and lead quality checks on engineering outputs

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Essential experience of the Design Engineer – Nuclear Process

  • Strong grasp of mechanical engineering for pressure and pipework systems
  • Familiarity with the full design lifecycle
  • Knowledge of regulations and standards for nuclear and pressure system design
  • Technical experience in pressure systems, CAD, or component simulation
  • Expertise in fluid flow analysis or nuclear plant design

Qualifications for the Design Engineer – Nuclear Process

  • A minimum of HNC or equivalent in a mechanical/process engineering discipline.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
