We are seeking a talented Design Engineer with a strong background in mechanical systems, particularly focusing on powertrain and chassis components, to join our dynamic engineering team. You will be responsible for delivering innovative and high-performance solutions across the complete vehicle development cycle, from concept through to production.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical systems focusing on powertrain integration (engine mounts, cooling systems, exhaust, etc.) and chassis components (suspension systems, steering, braking, subframes).
- Generate and manage CAD models, detailed drawings, and assemblies.
- Collaborate with simulation, analysis, and test teams to ensure robust, lightweight, and high-performance solutions.
- Support DFMEA creation and implement DVP (Design Verification Plan).
- Coordinate with other engineering functions to ensure system compatibility and integration.
- Interface with suppliers to develop and validate parts meeting technical and timing requirements.
- Participate in design reviews and present concepts to senior stakeholders.
- Ensure all designs meet legislative, safety, and company performance targets.
- Support prototype build phases and production release.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in powertrain and/or chassis system design within the automotive or motorsport industry.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, GD&T, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Siemens NX preferred, others considered).
- Knowledge of vehicle packaging constraints and system integration challenges.
- Good understanding of component testing, validation, and durability requirements.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving.
Desirable
- Experience in low-volume or high-performance vehicle development.
- Familiarity with PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter).
- Understanding of hybrid or electric powertrain systems.
- Knowledge of chassis tuning and vehicle dynamics principles.
