Gel Engineering Ltd is actively seeking a skilled Design Engineer in East London to join our water-industry team. You will collaborate with project managers to prepare drawings and develop 2D/3D models using Inventor.

The role emphasizes producing production-ready designs with strong attention to QEHS standards and client requirements. The ideal candidate holds a Mechanical Engineering degree with proven Inventor experience and proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, desirable.
• Inventor experience essential and proven design drawing capability.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD or SolidWorks) required.

Responsibilities

• Assess design briefs and surveys to gauge design requirements.
• Use Inventor to create 2D and 3D models.
• Perform quality checks to ensure drawings are production-ready.
• Communicate design concepts with team and clients.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to define criteria.
• Research user needs, market trends and functionality.
• Develop design solutions meeting QEHS standards and quality.
• Produce multiple drawing iterations using CAD tools.
• Evaluate against standards, regulations and asset criteria.
• Create accurate designs, BOMs, and detailed drawings on time.

Role Summary:

Gel Engineering is seeking a skilled Design Engineer to join our team. As a Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in collaborating with the project managers to prepare drawings. This role provides an opportunity to work on exciting projects

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assessing a design brief/scope/survey to gauge the design requirements
• Use Inventor software to create 2D and 3D models.
• Conduct thorough quality checks to ensure drawings are error-free and ready for production.
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to discuss design concepts and modifications.
• Collaborating with project managers, other engineers, and clients to determine project requirements and criteria
• Conducting and/or using research on user experience and needs, current market trends and general functionality
• Developing solutions that solve technical problems whilst maintaining quality and QEHS standards
• Creating multiple iterations of drawings using computer-aided design tools.
• Evaluating design solutions against industry standards, regulations and customer asset standards.
• Produce accurate design, list of materials, detailed drawings in accordance with required standards and company procedures, and within agreed timescales.

Knowledge and Experience:

• Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, desirable.
• Inventor experience essential
• Proven experience in design and creating detailed drawings.
• Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Attention to detail and a passion for precision in design.
