Design Engineer

Norwich | Up to £36,000

If you’re a Design Engineer who wants more ownership than simply producing drawings, this could be a good move.

You’ll be joining an engineering team where you can take projects from initial concept through to detailed design and delivery, working across mechanical and structural engineering projects.

The Role

This is a hands‑on design position with responsibility for your own engineering work.

You’ll be involved throughout the design process, developing practical engineering solutions while working alongside project teams, customers and suppliers.

There’s a good mix of CAD, calculations, technical problem‑solving and project involvement, rather than being limited to one part of the design process.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Developing concepts into detailed engineering solutions
• Producing mechanical and structural designs
• Creating 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings
• Completing engineering calculations and FEA
• Producing technical and manufacturing documentation
• Supporting and presenting design reviews
• Working with customers, suppliers and project teams
• Managing your own design workload against project deadlines
• Supporting less experienced engineers where required

What They’re Looking For

You’ll need a solid mechanical design background with experience taking designs from concept into detailed engineering.

You should be comfortable using 3D CAD, ideally SolidWorks, and understand how designs translate into fabrication and manufacture.

Experience with FEA, ANSYS, Mathcad or AutoCAD would be useful.

They’re also interested in experience around structural engineering, lifting equipment, pressure vessels, offshore or subsea projects, but you don’t need to have worked across all of these areas.

An HND, degree or equivalent engineering background would suit the role.

Salary: Up to £36,000
Location: Norwich
