JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity to join a growing contracts team for a Fire Sprinkler Mechanical Design Engineer who is proficient in AutoCAD, design checklists, documentation processes, and designing automatic sprinkler systems.
As a Fire Sprinkler Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing automatic sprinkler systems in line with industry standards and company expectations.
This is a ‘hands-on’ role requiring site visits, collaboration with multiple departments, and a commitment to quality and safety.
DUTIES
Your duties will include:
- Designing and developing sprinkler systems according to BSEN 12845, BS9251, NFPA, and FM Global standards
- Producing and reviewing detailed design drawings and hydraulic calculations, ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards
- Attending contract handover meetings, conducting site checks to verify pipe routes, and collaborating with the Design Manager to resolve design issues
- Preparing and issuing final construction drawings, producing “As Fitted” drawings, and supporting other departments to improve business operations
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in designing automatic sprinkler systems
- Knowledge of LPC/BS EN 12845, NFPA, FM Global Datasheets, and FHC rules
- Ability to perform hydraulic calculations and work towards LPCB design qualifications
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with design checklists and documentation processes
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to attend training and participate in company meetings and projects
- Valid UK driving licence
