Job summary

Catering in Aberdeen is seeking a Design Engineer (Deck Equipment / Structural / FEA / Mathcad) to lead mechanical design across high-value offshore projects. You will deliver design packages, perform verification and lifting analyses for equipment such as carousels, winches and reel drives.

You will work within a close-knit design team, using Mathcad, FS2000/Staad and FEA tools, ensuring compliance with DNV, Lloyds and other standards. Permanent role with strong progression and benefits.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified Mechanical or Marine Engineer or equivalent with substantial experience.
• Experience in mechanical design of Carousels, Winches, Tensioners and Reel Drives.
• Knowledge of codes and standards (DNV, Lloyds, AISC, PUWER, LOLER, HSAW).
• Experience with FEA and hydraulic/handling equipment.

Responsibilities

• Undertake mechanical engineering activities across projects, including equipment design, design verification and lifting analysis.
• Prepare, check and/or approve design calculations, reports, manufacturing drawings, layout drawings, and associated documentation to recognised codes and standards (e.g., DNV, FEM, Lloyds, AISC, PUWER, LOLER, HSAW).
• Carry out mechanical analysis and calculations using software such as FS2000/Staad, Mathcad and FEA software.
• Collaborate and contribute to the compilation of Factory acceptance documents.
• Generate engineering documents in the form of design packages, reports and technical notes.
• Drive component selection for equipment such as Carousels, Tensioners, Reel Drives, Handling Equipment, Winches and associated equipment.

Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer with a background in the oil and gas industry, industrial lifting equipment or deck machinery, looking for a varied and hands-on role within an Engineering Consultancy that supplies tailored solutions, equipment and personnel packages for the global energy sectors?

Are you looking to become immersed and take the lead as an integral part of the Design Team, where you will be responsible for effectively delivering assigned design ventures of high-value projects across a range of applications within the lifting and offshore sectors?

On offer is the opportunity to work within a close-knit design team, where you will be responsible for providing mechanical engineering expertise to support the design, fabrication, and operation of equipment such as Carousels, Tensioners, Reel drives, Handling Equipment, Winches and associated machinery.

The Role:

• Proven experience in mechanical design of equipment such as Carousels, Winches, Electro-hydraulic handling equipment, Tensioners and Reel Drive Systems
