Monday – Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm
Competitive Salary GBP35,000 – GBP45,000 depending on experience

We are looking for a Design Engineer to join our dynamic drawing office. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing components and tooling for cutting edge products, ranging from medical devices, to particle physics equipment.

You will be working closely with the design leader, project engineers, physicists, purchasing and production staff.

Responsibilities:

Designing product components, assemblies, and production tooling in line with company standard practises, design for manufacture concepts, set budgets and deadlines.

Producing Concepts, 3D models, 2D detailed drawings, assemblies, and Bill of materials.

Investigating, identifying, and utilising suitable materials and products in designs.

Liaising and collaborating with engineering, production, onsite machine shops and purchasing departments, as well as suppliers.

Collaborating with engineering department on factory instruction documentation, parts' lists and ensuring costs are understood and communicated.

Convening, Chairing and recording design reviews as necessary.

Occasional stress, thermal and electromechanical analysis of components and structures, FEA .

Required Skills:

Engineering Degree, or equivalent industry experience.

Familiar with CAD packages (Siemens Solid Edge would be an advantage)

Experience of fundamental mechanical design and geometrical tolerances including best practices for machining and assembly – design for manufacture

A basic understanding of engineering material properties

Familiarity with ANSYS, Opera, SOLIDWORKS Electrical Schematic would be an advantage

An ability to create designs from concepts through to final manufactured parts

An ability to work to deadlines and under pressure
