Job summary

Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD is seeking an experienced Design Engineer for a busy UK manufacturing environment in Poole, Dorset. You will design and develop bespoke handling equipment, taking concepts through to manufacture, using SolidWorks to create 3D models and detailed drawings.

The role requires hands-on mechanical design experience, familiarity with FEA and technical documentation, and the ability to liaise with customers and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Mechanical Design Engineer or similar engineering design role.
• Strong SolidWorks skills including 3D modelling, assemblies and detailed drawings.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design, Product Design or related discipline.
• Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
• Experience designing fabricated or manufactured components and assemblies is advantageous.
• Knowledge of FEA, risk assessments, FMEA and technical documentation would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Produce concept and detailed mechanical designs for new products and bespoke requirements.
• Create 3D CAD models, assemblies and detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
• Carry out product testing and design validation, including manual calculations and FEA as needed.
• Produce engineering documentation, including risk assessments, FMEA and technical files.
• Create General Arrangement drawings based on customer requirements and samples.
• Liaise with customers and suppliers to clarify requirements and develop practical solutions.
• Support technical sales with drawings, input and design guidance during quotations.
