Job Description:

  1. Experienced in airframe structure design engineering development.
  2. Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering graduate or postgraduate with a minimum of 6 to 10 years of experience in executing design activities.
  3. Experience working on eVTOL aircraft design, build, and test is an advantage.
  4. Experience providing design and build services for prototype electrical vertical take-off/landing aircraft.
  5. The design engineer, along with a team, will prepare composite and metallic structure detail and assembly definitions as part of a capacity offload solution.
  6. The role requires delivering professional design engineering services weekly, including design and design checking capabilities.
  7. The design engineer and team must be capable of delivering design engineering, including creation and cross-checking of model-based definitions within the 3D Experience digital mock-up (DMU).
  8. The team should operate independently but may engage with other engineering teams for compatibility and continuity of design, especially with the Systems Integration team to consider system routing needs.
  9. The design engineer will report to a designated Lead and then to the relevant Design Lead for the program(s).
  10. Some physical attendance at customer facilities for key meetings and design reviews is required, with a hybrid working model considered acceptable.
  11. Perform design activities, interact within the team, and interface with other teams to achieve design maturity.
  12. Define design solutions for new components/assemblies and modifications, considering cost, weight, quality, manufacturability, serviceability, and performance.
  13. Provide evidence of design compliance with customer and technical specifications.
  14. Prepare drawings and engineering data for manufacturing and customer submissions.
  15. Produce Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) to support manufacturing, quality, and certification.
  16. Ensure quality of deliveries by the team.

Must-have skills:

  1. Design engineering experience and coordination with an authorized Design Approver Signatory on metallic and/or composite aero structures.
  2. Excellent knowledge of aerostructures, including wing, empennage, and fuselage.
  3. Proficiency with computerized design and analysis methods (CATIA V5).
  4. Experience with GD&T (tolerance stack-up).
  5. Good understanding of aerospace composite (honeycomb) and metallic materials and manufacturing processes.
  6. Customer-focused with the ability to establish credibility with internal and external customers.
  7. Awareness of aerospace industry standards, regulations, and qualification requirements.
  8. Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
  9. Ability to work under tight deadlines and meet customer demands.
  10. Effective team collaboration skills within an integrated project team.
