Job Title: Design Engineer - Air and Fuel Systems

Location: Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom

About the Role

As a Design Engineer for Air and Fuel Systems within the Component Engineering department, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, reliable air and fuel system components from concept to production.

Qualifications
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 6-8 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Strong understanding of mechanical fundamentals and engine components/systems
  • Experience with CAD (Creo) for designing powertrain components, specifically internal combustion reciprocating engines
  • Expertise in fuel systems, air systems, EGR systems, and turbochargers
  • Ability to utilize simulation tools for design analysis
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver component development projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards
  • Lead and participate in design reviews for approval and support
  • Develop specifications and collaborate with suppliers to ensure robust designs
  • Conduct FMEA assessments and coordinate simulation and validation activities (DVP&R)
  • Investigate technical issues using 8D problem-solving methods
  • Translate customer requirements into effective design solutions
  • Prepare and review technical documentation for production release
  • Collaborate with global teams to implement solutions at manufacturing sites
  • Promote continuous improvement using Lean principles
  • Experience with fuel systems, air systems, EGR systems, or turbochargers
  • Familiarity with APQP, FMEA, and DVP&R processes
  • Background in off-highway diesel engine sector
  • Experience in simulation and test-based component development
