Job description

FJA is recruiting on behalf of a leading service provider in the Water and Waste Water Infrastructure sectors for an experienced Design Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join their growing Engineering team.

The successful candidate will be part of the design team responsible for investigation and detailed design of clean and waste water networks, civil engineering, and other projects primarily related to the water industry.

Responsibilities of the Design Engineer:
  • Perform activities related to projects (investigation, design, construction, completion) in line with client and company standards, national standards, and codes of practice
  • Prepare and register all relevant documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with requirements
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure design integrity
  • Ensure compliance with CDM, Health & Safety, and environmental standards
  • Manage innovative methods and materials for project impact
  • Liaise with external agencies for smooth project phases
  • Coordinate with internal departments and clients for cost-effective designs
  • Produce statutory notices for private land work as per client requirements
  • Assist in producing reports for Lead Designer, Project Managers, and clients
  • Maintain liaison with stakeholders throughout project phases
  • Ensure all documentation for H/S files and project completion is available
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Educated to A levels or BTEC National
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Knowledge of water and wastewater systems including MEICAT equipment
  • Experience with AutoCAD 2D / GIS Software
  • Awareness of Process Safety
  • Good communication skills adaptable to different audiences
  • Understanding of network modelling software
