Job Role:
To undertake a defined range of detail design activities in line with all relevant processes and quality requirements, supplying advice and support to operations and other functions, and ensuring defined objectives are achieved while maintaining quality and service standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate within the functionality of appropriate tools and techniques (e.g., Foran and CE) as directed by the supervisor.
- Produce and develop designs according to specifications and all quality and technical standards; carry out detail design appraisals to ensure standards are maintained.
- Investigate operational problems or developments and develop solutions, individually or as part of a team.
- Support the development of best practices to improve tools and processes.
- Identify personal training needs, skills gaps, and development requirements.
- Stay updated in relevant technical areas, develop skills, and provide technical support and expertise.
- Assist less experienced team members in their effective working and development.
- Manage assigned budgets effectively.
- Instruct apprentices and trainees in the technical content of work.
- Verify own tasks and cross-check work of others to ensure quality and completeness.
- Respond to technical queries within your competency level.
- Contribute as a member of technical teams for specialized tasks.
- Understand the engineering lifecycle and its relation to lifecycle management processes.
- Ensure products are safe, with safety assessments integrated into the design process.
- Be aware of regulatory and statutory requirements and potential liabilities.
- Recognize the importance of sustainability and environmental considerations.
- Support supportability engineering processes to ensure long-term viability.
Key Attributes:
- At least 2 years of experience in engineering, defense, or related industries.
- Understanding of Lifecycle Management (LCM).
- Typically holds HNC/HND qualification in technology, engineering, or science.
- Eligible for Engineering Technician (EngTech) status.
- Value the engineering lifecycle and technical reviews for product viability.
