Mechanical Design Engineer

As a result of increasing workload, my client is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to work as part of their experienced design team at their Rugby site. The role involves diverse and challenging work covering all aspects of the design, manufacture, and repair of motors ranging from 20kW to 150kW.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Mechanical design of new machinery, including stator, rotor components, and complete machines, as well as upgrades and retrofits.
2. CAD design of complex components.
3. Diagnostic activities on machinery prior to failure, including machine condition analysis, life assessment reports, and root cause analysis of failures.
4. Engagement in engineering activities during all project phases, including client interactions.
5. Development of test methodologies and instructions for dynamic testing of large machines, along with analysis of results.
6. Ensuring quality control and technical compliance according to contractual agreements.
7. Providing service and maintenance support.
8. Performing stress analysis, including FEA.
9. Supporting tendering and project management teams with technical oversight to project completion.
10. Familiarity with various manufacturing techniques.
11. Experience designing machines for high shock environments.
12. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
13. Understanding of electrical motors in the 20kW to 150kW range, ideally for pumps and fans.
14. Producing detailed technical reports.
15. Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
