Design Engineer - Precision Forging (Aerofoils)

iO Associates are working with a leading manufacturer of precision forged aerospace components to recruit a Design Engineer for their growing engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the full lifecycle of aerofoil blade and tooling design, supporting both product and process development in a high-spec environment.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Design complex forged metal aerofoils and tooling systems using NX CAD

  • Optimise forging processes including die layout and material flow

  • Conduct FEA simulations to predict forging performance and improve part quality

  • Work closely with manufacturing to reduce defects and extend tooling life

  • Produce technical drawings and support GD&T and compliance requirements

  • Collaborate across production, quality, and engineering to implement improvements

What We're Looking For:
  • Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering

  • 2+ years in a design engineering role (preferably forging or component manufacturing)

  • Proficient in NX or SolidWorks, and FEA for stress/material flow

  • Strong understanding of forging principles, metallurgy, and GD&T

  • Problem-solving mindset with good communication and cross-team collaboration skills

Nice to Have:
  • Experience with aerofoil or aerospace component manufacturing

  • Familiarity with AS9100 environments and customer compliance standards
