Job summary

Kier Group plc. is seeking a Highways & Drainage Design Engineer to join our design team across multiple locations. You will lead temporary works design integrated with permanent works, support tenders, and review third-party designs to ensure Kier standards are met.

This role focuses on complex infrastructure projects, collaboration with clients and stakeholders, and career development within Kier's renowned engineering teams and project pipeline.

Qualifications

• IEng Initial Professional Development or CEng progress with ICE or equivalent, or Level 6/7 with experience.
• Experience in highways and drainage design solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead temporary works design and checking for highways and drainage.
• Provide tender and bid support with outline designs, feasibility studies, and innovative solutions.
• Review third-party designs for compliance with Kier requirements.
• Manage design deliverables, finances and client relationships under supervision.
• Conduct site visits, surveys and inspections and provide technical support to project teams.

Job description

As a Highways & Drainage Design Engineer, you’ll be working within the design team, supporting them in delivering complex construction engineering services. We’re seeking a talented engineer to join our team and contribute to delivering complex construction engineering services. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, providing solutions that are safe, buildable, and innovative. You’ll be involved in everything from temporary works design to technical assessments, supporting our reputation for engineering excellence whilst developing your career in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Your day to day will include:

• Leading temporary works design and checking, with a focus on highways and drainage solutions integrated with permanent works design
• Providing tender and bid winning support including outline design schemes, feasibility studies, and innovative solutions
• Conducting technical assessments and reviews of third party designs to ensure compliance with client and Kier requirements
• Managing project delivery including design deliverables, financial aspects, and client relationships under appropriate supervision
• Undertaking site visits, surveys and inspections, attending meetings, and providing technical expertise to support project teams

Qualifications required:

• Holding IEng Initial Professional Development (or CEng equivalent progress) with a relevant professional institution (e.g. ICE) with relevant experience, or a Level 6 or Level 7 qualification with relevant experience, or demonstrable relevant experience in engineering
• Experienced in highways and drainage design solutions
• Able to manage project responsibilities and lead design teams
• Committed to maintaining professional development and technical excellence
• Collaborative and focused on building effective relationships with clients and stakeholders
