Daikin Applied is seeking a Design Engineer. The Design Engineer will lead the development of primary systems and sub-systems of commercial HVAC equipment. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional team members, driving towards releasing innovative HVAC products. The candidate must have good communication skills and work well in a group setting, with minimal supervision. Location: Plymouth, MN - Hybrid



What you will do:



  • Develop electro-mechanical products of significant complexity, supporting program quality, cost, and schedule

  • Develop test plans and perform testing of components, sub-systems, and total systems, supporting performance, reliability, and industry certification

  • Work cross-functionally with groups such as design, test, manufacturing, sales, and supply chain to ensure product design meets business needs

  • Support the execution of the new product development phase-gate process, demonstrating appropriate design maturity and growth across various milestones

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

  • 2 years of related experience

  • Understanding of mechanical concepts such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, structures, materials

  • Hands-on experience testing electro-mechanical equipment

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to an audience in a presentation setting

  • Capabilities with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) tools

  • Knowledge of cross-functional groups such as Controls, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Design, Quality, etc.

  • Understanding of New Product Development processes

  • Knowledge of Lean principles

  • Project management capabilities with the ability to estimate work tasks and support project planning activities

  • Knowledge of engineering tools and analysis methods such as DOE, DFMEA, DVP&R

  • Knowledge of vapor compression cycle

  • Capabilities in modeling/simulation tools such as MATLAB, ANSYS, VapCyc, etc.

  • Knowledge of systems engineering and architecture

  • Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • 3 years of related work experience

The typical salary range for this position ranges from $74,200-$120,700 in Minnesota. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade in which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
