Job summary

Cosworth Ltd in Northampton is seeking a Design Engineer to support the Process Engineering Group with design solutions for prototype tools, assembly aids and production equipment. You will perform CAD design and release drawings, review tools, and contribute to efficient, safe assembly of high‑performance engines in a production environment.

Experience with CAD packages (NX preferred) and a Motorsports/engineering background will help apply innovative ideas while upholding quality and data

Qualifications

• Engineering/Motorsport degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience with CAD software; NX is advantageous.
• Working knowledge of engine components and assemblies.

Responsibilities

• CAD bespoke design and release drawings for a busy manufacturing environment.
• Review and revise existing equipment and assembly tools.
• Support processes and equipment for new parts, e.g. hand tools and engine mounting.
• Design equipment to assemble high-performance engines in a controlled method.
• Consider health, safety, environmental and energy impacts of activities.
• Support compliance with Data Protection Act 2018 and related practices.

Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Design Engineer to join Cosworth to support the Process Engineering Group (Engine Build / Assembly Support) with design solutions. These will include custom assembly jigs/fixtures and assembly aids, for prototype tools and production equipment, providing capability solutions for efficiency and quality control.

The Role:

• CAD bespoke design and release of drawings for a busy Manufacturing and Build Shop environment.
• Ongoing review and revision of existing equipment and assembly tools.
• Support the implementation of processes and equipment for new parts e.g. designing hand held press tools, cylinder head mounting for seat and guide insertion.
• Designing of all equipment needed to assemble high performance engines in a production controlled method.
• Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.
• Support the Company’s compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, following policy and best practice.

Candidate Profile:

• An interest in high performance automotive engines.
• An Engineering/Motorsport degree or similar experience.
• Experience of a CAD software package, NX an advantage with Teamcentre PLM.
• A confident team player who is able to bring innovative ideas to the role.
• A working knowledge of engine component function, Cylinder Heads, Crankcase Assemblies and Engine Assembly is an advantage.
