Job description

Due to continuing growth within the organisation and new project wins across the buildings and infrastructure sectors, we are seeking to expand our Construction Engineering team. You will be working with a high performing, agile and collaborative team.

Construction Engineering is a broad field, and our suite of offered services is testament to our depth of knowledge and expertise. We offer design and consulting services in construction staging, temporary works, logistics, plant and equipment and virtual design and construction. The Construction Engineering team has a structural engineering focus, working closely with our in-house geotechnical and civil teams to deliver multi-disciplinary solutions to our clients.

We are looking for a Design Engineer to join the London Office. This is an exciting time for Robert Bird Group, as we go through expansion and have a growing portfolio of landmark buildings and infrastructure projects. This presents an opportunity for someone looking to further their career within a thriving engineering consultancy. A role in the Construction Engineering team will allow you to work across a variety of project types and sectors and you will have the opportunity to interact directly with our clients and partners.

Duties

1. Undertaking structural engineering analysis and design of Temporary works and Permanent structures during construction phase
2. Working with the production team to translate design into accurate and concise models and drawings
3. Developing and assessing construction sequencing proposals
4. Using tools to measure and actively reduce carbon impact on all our projects
5. Conducting site inspections of designed works
6. Assessment of existing structures
7. Supporting the development of our engineering graduates

Experience and Knowledge

1. BEng or Meng
2. Structural Engineering experience (temporary works experience welcome but not required)
3. 2+ years experience in a design focused role
4. Achieved Chartered status or working towards being chartered with IStructE, ICE or equivalent
