Job Title: AI-Integrated Design Engineer (Construction Build Design)
Location: Hull, UK
Department: Manufacturing, Constructions, Build, Design.
Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Role:
We are seeking a forward-thinking Design Engineer to join our Construction Build Design team in Hull. This role blends the creativity of architectural and structural design with the power of AI-driven CAD tools to streamline workflows, boost productivity, and enable next-gen construction design.
You will work on real-world projects using advanced features in tools like SOLIDWORKS 2025, Fusion 360, and AI-enhanced BIM/CAD platforms, integrating technologies that redefine how we design, simulate, and build.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leverage AI-powered features in CAD/BIM tools to accelerate construction design and documentation workflows.
- Automate repetitive design tasks using tools like:
- Command prediction engines.
- AI-driven auto-mating of construction fasteners or building components.
- Generative sketch constraints and auto-dimensioning.
- Convert site data (images, scans, meshes) into usable 3D or parametric models for construction applications.
- Use generative tools to produce architectural elements or structural components based on high-level inputs (sketches, photos, or prompts).
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams using AI assistants (e.g., AURA) to guide project setup, simulate design options, and produce client-ready renderings.
- Work on immersive design reviews using Mixed Reality (MR) and Virtual Reality (VR) experiences for stakeholder presentations and clash detection.
- Utilize AI-enhanced visualization for faster, high-quality renders—ideal for client walkthroughs and design approvals.
- Keep abreast of the latest AI/CAD innovations and bring experimental features into R&D workflows (e.g., Autodesk Project Bernini, CORTIME, etc.).
- Provide practical feedback on AI tools and help shape their integration into the construction design workflow.
Key Qualifications:
- Experience in construction/architectural design using CAD or BIM software (e.g., SOLIDWORKS, Revit, Fusion 360).
- Strong grasp of 3D modelling, detailing, and visualisation in the built environment.
- Interest in or experience with AI-powered design tools and emerging construction technologies.
- Comfortable working with point clouds, mesh data, or scanned site data.
- Experience with rendering tools (e.g., SOLIDWORKS Visualize, Lumion, Twinmotion) is a plus.
- Familiarity with immersive technologies (VR/MR) is an advantage.
