Job summary

Simply Jobsworth is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead the design function on renewable energy and building services projects in Croydon. You will own the design process, mentor engineers, and drive innovative M&E solutions from concept to construction.

The role requires delivering ASHP, Solar PV, MVHR and full M&E layouts, with heat loss/gain calculations and BIM-enabled design aligned to RIBA stages. Hybrid working arrangements apply in a fast-growing, client-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Senior design engineer with leadership experience delivering renewable energy or building services projects.
• Proven ability to lead a small engineering team and manage design workloads.
• Experience in heat loss/gain calculations, room-by-room analysis and system sizing.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and support a team of Design Engineers.
• Take ownership of projects from post-sales handover through construction.
• Produce detailed designs for renewable energy and M&E systems.

Senior Design Engineer - Renewable Energy & Building Services

Location: Croydon (Hybrid)

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 Basic + Performance Bonus (OTE £60,000 - £70,000)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join a rapidly expanding renewable energy and building services specialist delivering high-end residential and commercial projects across the South East.

This is a senior technical position offering the opportunity to take ownership of the design function, lead a small team of engineers, and play a key role in delivering innovative renewable energy solutions. You'll work on prestigious projects involving Air Source Heat Pumps, Solar PV, MVHR and complete mechanical and electrical systems, helping shape projects from concept through to construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and support a team of Design Engineers
• Take ownership of projects following technical handover from the sales team
• Produce detailed technical designs for renewable energy and mechanical building services systems
• Design Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP), Solar PV, MVHR and complete M&E solutions
• Complete heat loss and heat gain calculations, room-by-room analysis and system sizing
• Produce detailed schematics, layouts and technical specifications
• Act as the technical lead for installation teams, providing guidance and resolving design queries
• Manage design workloads to ensure project deadlines and service levels are achieved
• Work closely with architects, consultants, contractors and clients throughout the design process
• Implement and maintain BIM processes while ensuring compliance with RIBA design stages
