K.A.G. Recruitment are excited to bring to you an exciting new opportunity for a Design Engineer to join our client, a trusted supplier of aluminium flat rolled products based in Bridgnorth.

Job Title: Design Engineer

Location: Bridgnorth

Salary: Upto GBP45,000 DOE

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with on-site teams to deliver projects from concept to completion, covering capital investment, project works, and asset maintenance.
  • Develop detailed 3D models, drawings, and bills of materials; convert existing 2D designs into 3D CAD models.
  • Liaise with departments to ensure design accuracy and compliance with planning, building, and health & safety regulations.
  • Support project, maintenance, production, and HSE teams to meet time and budget targets.
  • Provide design solutions for ad hoc site issues and manage in-house drawing revision control and documentation.
  • Act as technical lead during evaluations of historic installations and integrate external drawings into project records.
  • Prepare technical reports, use EWR logging systems to track workload, and ideally work with Autodesk Vault and PLM systems.
  • Liaise with reliability engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors; prepare site reports and support mechanical apprentices.
  • Contribute to company-wide continuous improvement initiatives when implementing projects.

Knowledge & Experience

You will have a degree, HND or equivalent qualification in a mechanical discipline, along with training in CAD software ideally using Autodesk products as used on site, though experience with equivalent packages is also valuable. You will have in-depth knowledge of CAD drawing software across both 2D and 3D formats, and be proficient in computer applications including MS Office. You ll be able to read and interpret technical documents and engineering drawings, with a self-motivated, hands-on, can do approach to work. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, the ability to build effective working relationships, and excellent attention to detail will also be key to success in this role.
