Job summary

Mabey Hire in Ashton-in-Makerfield is seeking a Design Engineer to join our engineering team. You will design temporary works for groundworks, propping, formwork and falsework, reporting to the Design Team Leader.

The role suits an engineer with a few years post graduate experience in structures or geotechnical design, with strong CAD skills (AutoCAD 2D/REVIT) and knowledge of CDM 2015. You will collaborate closely with sales and operations to deliver engineering solutions.

Qualifications

• HND or degree in civil/structural engineering
• At least 3 years experience designing temporary works
• Experience with AutoCAD 2D and/or REVIT
• Good understanding of CDM 2015

Responsibilities

• Design temporary works for groundworks and building refurbishment propping (geotechnical design of sheet pile cofferdams and/or propping and needling)
• Prepare temporary works designs for groundworks and other product schemes
• Check designs and drawings in accordance with BS5975:2019
• Attend client meetings and carry out site visits
• Review design briefs from the sales team via Launchpad and request missing information
• Manage workload and contribute to continuous improvement projects as directed by Engineering Director

Design Engineer

Our customers include civil engineering and construction contractors, asset owners, and consulting engineering firms through to small builders.

Due to continued growth, we are currently looking for a design engineer to join our engineering team in Ashton-in-Makerfield. Reporting to a Design Team Leader, you will be responsible for producing temporary works designs for excavation support, propping, formwork and falsework.

The role would suit an engineer with a few years post graduate experience with demonstratable technical experience in structures or geotechnical design and a sound understanding of temporary works. At Mabey Hire, the floor is yours to fulfil your potential and take us forward.

You will:

• Experience of designing temporary works for groundworks and/or building refurbishment propping (e.g geotechnical design of sheet pile cofferdams and/or propping and needling)


• Prepare temporary works designs for groundworks and eventually other product schemes.


• Checking designs and drawing in accordance with BS5975:2019


• Attend client meetings and carry out site visits.


• Review design briefs provided by the sales team through Launchpad and provide feedback if more information is required.


• Managing your own workload § Contribute to continuous improvement projects as agreed by the Engineering Director.

You will have:

• A HND or degree in civil/structural engineering


• At least 3 years experience designing temporary works


• The ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment


• Experience of designing Formwork & Falsework


• Good understanding of CDM 2015


• Experience utilising AutoCAD 2D and/or REVIT

We would also love it if you have:

• Experience of designing Formwork


• Experience of checking Groundworks


• Experience working for a supplier or in a commercial environment


• Some experience working on site
