Design Engineer

ROLE : Mechanical Design Engineer

LOCATION : Bridgend

TERM: Permanent

SALARY: GBP 30,000 - GBP 45,000 per annum, dependent on experience

My client is a manufacturer of specialist products for various sectors, seeking to hire a Mechanical Design Engineer on a permanent basis in the Bridgend area.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

• Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• Previous experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment
• Experience with Sheet Metal/Metalwork is necessary
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as Creo, Inventor, SolidWorks, etc.
• Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small multidisciplinary team
• Ability to perform mechanical calculations
• Previous experience with process machinery or steel/metal materials is desirable
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Strong organisational and time management skills

The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:

• Collaborating within the current engineering team with other Design Engineers
• Producing 3D designs using CAD software and 2D designs with AutoCAD
• Liaising with manufacturing providers
• Participating in the final assembly of products
• Creating design documentation and project reports/plans
• Updating 3D models and drawings
• Inputting parts into the MRP system and creating BOMs
• Checking drawings for sign-off
• Working in a small multidisciplinary team on various projects
