NOV is looking for a Design Technician to join one of our Hydra Rig Business Units in Great Yarmouth.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform drafting activities as required by the Engineering department.
  • Design components for well servicing equipment based on previous examples and general engineering principles.
  • Assist in the research and development of new products.
  • Consult external vendors and internal experts as required.
  • Prepare detailed schematic drawings and process flow drawings.
  • Ensure strong internal communication among departments to standardize equipment, coordinate projects, and share product information.
  • Participate in technical and sales meetings when required to assess project feasibility considering overall design.
  • Provide estimates to the Engineering Manager upon completing drawings and report any project deadline concerns.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly production and project meetings.
  • Measure and sketch components in shop or field environments.
  • Monitor fabrication to ensure design intent is met and suggest improvements.
  • Provide comprehensive job summary reports to identify potential enhancements for future jobs.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all company information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet customer expectations and company goals.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

  • Mechanical Engineering qualification at any level up to a first degree.
  • Prior experience with SolidWorks is required; experience with AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Experience in designing and operating energy industry service equipment is desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Project management experience and familiarity with PLM and ERP systems are assets.
  • Full UK driving license is preferred.
