Job Description

Design Draughtsman/Junior Project Manager wanted for a busy architectural metalwork firm near Peterborough. Focusing on the architectural side of metalwork, our client specializes in Handrails, Balustrades, Staircases, and general metalwork in mild and stainless steel. Working in the commercial sector, they have secured multiple projects throughout London with projects scheduled for the next two years.

Candidates must have experience within the architectural metalwork industry. We are looking for a draughtsman who wishes to take a step up into a project management role and offer full training to accomplish this.

Job duties include:

  1. Working from customer/architectural drawings to produce detailed fabrication drawings when needed (Architectural metalwork, secondary steelwork, staircases, balustrades, and handrails).
  2. Producing drawings on CAD software for production and general arrangement (GA) when needed.
  3. Collaborating with engineers, architects, project managers, and fabricators to ensure drawings are accurate, to specification, and understood.
  4. Working to relevant UK industry standards.
  5. Scheduling of works.
  6. Risk identification and management.
  7. Overall quality control.
  8. Responsibility for delivery on time and within budget.
  9. Meeting and managing project expectations.
  10. Liaising with all relevant parties involved in the contract (workshop, site management, client side).
