Job description

Currently recruiting for an experienced Design Draftsperson on a permanent staff basis for a subsea company based in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen.

The Design Draftsperson will play a crucial role in the Engineering Team and will contribute to the creation of detailed design drawings and technical documentation using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and Vault. The primary objective is to support the product development process by transforming conceptual designs into accurate, comprehensive drafts. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless transition of ideas into practical and manufacturable solutions.

The Design Draftsperson will have the following main duties/responsibilities:

Drafting and Modelling:

• Utilising Autodesk Inventor and Vault to create 3D models and detailed 2D drawings that adhere to industry standards and company guidelines.
• Developing accurate representations of product components, assemblies, and systems.

Technical Documentation:

• Generating comprehensive technical documentation, including Bills of Materials (BOMs) and assembly instructions.
• Ensuring that all drawings and documents are in compliance with relevant codes and standards.

Collaboration:

• Working closely with Engineers and other stakeholders to understand design requirements and specifications.
• Participating in design reviews and provide input to enhance the overall quality of designs.

Revision Control:

• Managing and updating design files to reflect revisions and changes throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Maintaining an organised and efficient file management system.

Quality Assurance:

• Conducting thorough reviews of own work to identify and rectify errors or discrepancies.
• Supporting the implementation of quality control measures within the drafting process.

Continuous Improvement:

• Staying abreast of industry trends and advancements in design software.
• Contributing to process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Drafting Team.

Deadline Management:

• Prioritising and managing multiple projects concurrently to meet deadlines.
• Communicating effectively with team members to provide project status updates.

Experience/Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a similar Design Draftsperson type role, directly within the North Sea Oil and Gas industry, is industry.
• Applicants should have experience with Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and Vault.
