This globally recognised consultancy is seeking a leader for their industry and buildings group in the Midlands, which combines environmental consultancy and engineering design services. They provide expert consultancy within the built environment, targeting sectors such as logistics, manufacturing, mission-critical facilities, offshore wind, and ports, and are industry leaders.
You will join their integrated project delivery team, working within the Design and Project Management group. Your focus will be on managing one or multiple projects, collaborating with their business lines to ensure effective project delivery.
Their project teams strive to improve delivery through automation and innovation, and you will contribute to this by identifying opportunities across projects. You will work closely with internal and external design engineers and technicians, depending on project complexity.
Based in Birmingham, your projects will span the UK and Europe, requiring regular travel.
Your responsibilities will include managing and delivering design outputs for medium to large, complex projects. You will build relationships with clients, internal teams, stakeholders, and third-party specialists, ensuring designs are technically correct, coordinated, delivered on time, and within budget. You will also provide design support, problem-solve during coordination meetings, and manage communications with clients and teams.
You will support business development efforts through continual client engagement and contribute to enhancing the design offering.
The role involves technical delivery, design coordination, quality assurance, leading design reviews, managing RFIs and change controls, and leading value engineering reviews. You will assist the Project Management team in promoting Design Management, mentor less experienced Design Managers, and foster a positive culture to ensure client satisfaction and repeat business.
Candidates should be graduates in Architecture, Civil/Structural Engineering, or Building Services, with at least 8 years of senior Design Management experience. A thorough knowledge of NEC contracts, complex building design, site infrastructure (Civils, Transport, MEP), and planning and permitting processes is essential.
