Position Summary
A leading manufacturer is seeking a Design Development Engineer to join their engineering team. This role plays a key part in the design and development of both new and existing products, supporting their full lifecycle from concept to production and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret customer requirements and provide timely technical responses to enquiries.
- Design and develop high-performance cable products/other products in line with customer specifications and regulatory standards.
- Own and manage product Bills of Materials (BoMs).
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs align with factory capabilities.
- Develop product quality and control plans, including defining test requirements.
- Support material selection and testing processes.
- Create and maintain technical documentation to support and promote the product range.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with international standards and relevant legislation.
Additional Responsibilities
- Liaise with suppliers regarding material specifications and availability.
- Provide technical support to sales and customer service teams.
- Uphold high ethical standards and conduct business with integrity.
- Contribute to cost reduction initiatives across the product range.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred) or equivalent.
- Experience in electro-mechanical design and polymeric materials is desirable.
- Familiarity with British and international standards.
- Previous cable design experience is advantageous.
- Experience in regulated industries such as aerospace or automotive.
- Background in continuous manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of component and materials testing.
- Experience with ERP systems (Monitor ERP is a plus).

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent planning, organisation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools.
- Ability to multitask and maintain attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, flexible, and capable of managing projects to completion.
