Qualifications

  • Experience in electro-mechanical design and polymeric materials is desirable.
  • Familiarity with British and international standards.
  • Previous cable design experience is advantageous.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as aerospace or automotive.
  • Background in continuous manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of component and materials testing.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret customer requirements and provide timely technical responses to enquiries.
  • Design and develop high-performance cable products in line with customer specifications.
  • Own and manage product Bills of Materials (BoMs).
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs align with factory capabilities.
  • Develop product quality and control plans, including defining test requirements.
  • Support material selection and testing processes.

Skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent planning, organisation, and problem-solving abilities
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools
Ability to multitask and maintain attention to detail

Position Summary

A leading manufacturer is seeking a Design Development Engineer to join their engineering team. This role plays a key part in the design and development of both new and existing products, supporting their full lifecycle from concept to production and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret customer requirements and provide timely technical responses to enquiries.
  • Design and develop high-performance cable products/other products in line with customer specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Own and manage product Bills of Materials (BoMs).
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs align with factory capabilities.
  • Develop product quality and control plans, including defining test requirements.
  • Support material selection and testing processes.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation to support and promote the product range.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with international standards and relevant legislation.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding material specifications and availability.
  • Provide technical support to sales and customer service teams.
  • Uphold high ethical standards and conduct business with integrity.
  • Contribute to cost reduction initiatives across the product range.
