Design Co-ordinator Role

Our design co-ordinator will play a key role in the successful delivery of our civil projects by managing all aspects of design delivery from contract award through to completion. This includes ensuring the design is delivered on schedule, reviewed by the team, approved by the client, and that queries and challenges during construction are addressed. The role involves travel; you will be based onsite three days a week, with the remaining days either at one of our main offices or working from home.

Projects

Our civil engineering division works across Transportation, Water, Marine, and Energy sectors. The available role will support the Design team on large Water framework projects, including recent contracts with Northumbrian Water in Durham and Barsham, enhancing water supply resilience in England. We also work with Anglian Water, Affinity Water, Northern Ireland Water, and Irish Water.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the development of the design from contract award to completion.
  • Provide clear guidance to designers and monitor progress.
  • Ensure designs are coordinated and approved ahead of construction schedules.
  • Review all design information for compliance, buildability, financial viability, and temporary works.
  • Contribute to risk management, opportunity assessment, and value engineering.
  • Resolve technical and design issues, sharing solutions with the team.
  • Minimize risks related to defects, hazards, and non-compliance.
  • Advise on workflows and procedures for formatted information.
  • Assist with BIM implementation as required and support the BIM Manager.
  • Support the client in fulfilling CDM regulations and design obligations.
Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience in civil design coordination within the industry.
  • Strong understanding of modern construction techniques, plant, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering projects and contractual frameworks (NEC, JCT).
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Asta Powerproject, AutoCAD, and document management systems.
  • Experience with MEICA integration and BIM on live projects.
  • Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field.
  • Valid UK manual driving license.
