The role involves preparing materials, maintaining equipment and supporting practical lessons, with opportunities for additional training and staff development.

Qualifications

• Experience in a practical workshop and strong health and safety awareness.
• Well-organised and reliable, able to work independently or in a team.
• Knowledge of CAD/CAM; willingness to learn laser cutting and 3D printing.

Herschel Grammar School is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Design and Technology Technician to join our Outstanding Design and Technology Department. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a highly regarded department within a well‑resourced and modern workshop, supporting high‑quality teaching and learning. The team of teachers and support staff in the department have been working together for several years and provide a very friendly, and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities will include:

• Preparing, ordering and managing materials and resources required for practical lessons
• Maintaining machinery, tools and equipment to ensure the highest standards of health and safety
• Organising and managing the efficient storage of resources
• Supporting teaching staff and students during practical lessons

The ideal candidate will:

• Have practical workshop experience and a strong awareness of health and safety
• Be organised, reliable and able to work independently as well as part of a team
• Knowledge of CAD/CAM, would be an advantage, or if not, a willingness and aptitude to learn how to use these programmes and equipment (Laser cutter / 3D printer)
