Job summary

Teaching Consultancy is supporting a welcoming Newham secondary school to recruit a Design and Technology Teacher from November 2026. You’ll deliver D&T across KS3/KS4 (and KS5) to help students build practical, creative and problem-solving skills in a well-equipped department.

This role suits an experienced D&T teacher or an enthusiastic ECT seeking a supportive environment with clear pathways to permanent employment.

Qualifications

• QTS (or equivalent) with a Design & Technology specialism.
• Experience teaching D&T in UK secondary schools (ECTs welcome).
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to apply.
• Legal right to work in the UK.
• Confident and safe workshop practice.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging D&T lessons across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 where applicable).
• Teach Product Design, Resistant Materials, Textiles and Electronics.
• Support GCSE coursework (NEA) and practical projects.
• Ensure workshop health and safety procedures are followed.
• Assess, mark and track student progress.
• Work with Head of Department to develop the curriculum.

Salary: £150 - £200 per day (paid to scale, MPS/UPS, depending on experience)

You'll teach D&T across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 [and KS5], helping students build practical, creative and problem-solving skills in a well-equipped department.

What You'll Be Doing

• Planning and delivering engaging D&T lessons across KS3 and KS4 [and KS5]
• Teaching Product Design / Resistant Materials / Textiles / Electronics
• Supporting students through GCSE coursework (NEA) and practical projects
• Making sure workshop health and safety procedures are followed
• Assessing, marking and tracking student progress
• Working with the Head of Department to develop the curriculum
