Design and Development Project Engineer

Location: Derby (Commutable from: Nottingham, Burton-on-Trent, and Loughborough)

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 + Training + Progression + Early Finish Fridays + Company Benefits

Are you experienced in Design and Development, looking to take the next step in your career with a specialist global company in a technically interesting role?

On offer is the opportunity to progress into a project management role where you will be involved with and helping to manage projects from cradle to grave, with opportunities to further progress your career.

The company operates worldwide across a range of sectors within Manufacturing and Engineering. Due to ongoing success, they are expanding their team.

The day-to-day responsibilities include cradle-to-grave management of Instrumentation projects, providing reports, liaising with different departments, developing manufacturing flows, and supporting the production manager.

The ideal candidate will have a sound knowledge of Design and Development and a background in Manufacturing environments. The candidate must also be well-organized and willing to learn a more logistics-based role. Those with no project management experience are encouraged to apply.

Role: Supporting the Production Manager with project management from cradle to grave, including:

• Project reports covering schedule, cost, and profitability
• Identifying project risks and developing mitigation plans
• Developing and maintaining bill of materials (BoM)
• Developing manufacturing flow for each project as required
• Liaising with manufacturing, quality, and engineering departments

Office-based role with occasional travel.

The Person:

• Degree / HNC / HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Background in Design and Development
• Experience with manufacturing techniques such as welding, brazing, soldering, machining (turning and milling), 3D printing, metal coating, and heat treatment processes
• Understanding of Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronic principles
• Previous experience with precision engineering or production is highly advantageous
