Job Details
  • Location: Warwickshire
  • Rate: GBP 34/hr (Inside IR35)
  • Duration: 12 Months (potential for renewal)
Role Overview

The role involves leading the design and delivery of bespoke test rigs and fixtures to support the core cycle plan across all Engineering Labs test areas. These rigs will vary from component to system level or full vehicle testing.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design test rigs and components using 3DX (Catia V6) from concept to delivery.
  2. Create 2D drawings for manufacturing at internal workshops and external suppliers.
  3. Collaborate with customers to identify testing requirements and ensure rigs are capable of the task.
  4. Coordinate with workshop fitters and supervisors.
  5. Manage workload to ensure on-time delivery of test rigs.
  6. Validate designs using methods like Hand Calculations, Kinematics, MBS, FEA/CAE.
  7. Prepare technical reports.
Required Experience
  1. Experience as a mechanical engineer in a test environment, focusing on rig design at component and system levels.
  2. Knowledge of testing methodologies for road vehicles.
  3. Understanding of vehicle architecture, components, and mechanical systems.
  4. Proficiency in CAD, especially 3DExperience or Catia V5/V6.
  5. Knowledge of static analysis and durability/fatigue calculations.
  6. Understanding of metallic materials and structural design.
  7. Ability to produce detailed 2D drawings for manufacturing.
  8. Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and design optimization.
  9. Strong workload management and problem-solving skills.
Additional Information
