Job description

Job summary

We are seeking a Band 6 Specialist Nurse to manage complex wound care for patients with Hidradenitis Suppurativa at our Salford Dermatology Centre.

The Salford Royal Hospital Dermatology Centre is renowned nationally, providing specialist services for Greater Manchester and beyond. These include a high-profile Psoriasis service, the Specialist Centre for Mohs Micrographic Surgery, and hosting the Manchester Specialist Skin MDT.

The successful candidate will:

  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless dermatology care within the Salford Care Organisation and community.
  • Offer specialist dermatology advice, support assessment, planning, and implementation of patient care, and deliver programs of care and education for Hidradenitis Suppurativa patients.
  • Receive mentorship and comprehensive training through a local dermatology competency assessment framework to specialize in Hidradenitis Suppurativa.

Main duties include:

  • Possessing a specialist interest and knowledge in dermatology, with clinical experience at Band 5 level in a dermatology setting.
  • Considering recruitment of a Band 5 nurse into a training role; Band 6 status awarded after training and competency assessments.
  • Working with an established team of specialist nurses and dermatology professionals.
  • Providing education, advice, and follow-up to empower patients in managing their conditions, and supporting local GPs, community nurses, and pharmacy teams.
  • Being a motivated, self-managed nurse with enthusiasm to develop the Dermatology Nursing Service, mentor junior staff and students.
