Job description

My Derbyshire based client is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join its friendly and collaborative team. The position is available on a full-time or part-time basis, offering flexibility for the right candidate. The role is based around 40 hours over 3.5 days per week, although alternative part-time hours can be considered. The salary is £40,000–£60,000 FTE, depending on experience, making this an opportunity for a vet looking to develop their career within an established and well-supported practice on the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire border. The practice has built a strong reputation within the local community and provides a varied client base and interesting caseload. The purpose-built surgery is bright and air-conditioned, with facilities designed to high clinical standards. Equipment includes dental and digital X-ray, ultrasound, multiparameter anaesthetic monitoring, a physio-grade laser and an in-house laboratory, with access to a veterinary physiotherapist also available. Its location offers excellent accessibility, with the M1, local train station and East Midlands Airport all within easy reach. The successful candidate will work alongside Practice Partners, who are both actively involved in the practice and work on site to provide support to the team, clients and patients. They will join an established team consisting of three full-time Veterinary Surgeons, six RVNs and four Client Care Advisors. The practice prides itself on being a welcoming environment where colleagues work closely together and genuinely enjoy being part of the team. The working pattern is approximately 40 hours across 3.5 days, with some flexibility around the exact hours. The rota includes one Saturday in three, from 9am–4pm, with minimal sole-charge work and no OOH duties. The practice is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon with sound medical and surgical experience, alongside confident communication skills and a compassionate approach to clients and their pets. Ideally, candidates will have at least 18 months' veterinary experience, although the team is keen to hear from suitable applicants who feel they have the right skills and approach for the position. Professional development is encouraged, with opportunities for career progression, a generous CPD allowance and certificate funding available to support longer-term ambitions.
