Job Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Ward Manager position on Lowton ward on a fixed-term, part-time basis.

We are looking for a qualified nurse who wishes to further their career and join our existing team. The successful candidate should be able to work as part of a team, use their initiative, and have excellent communication skills and flexibility to meet the needs of the service.

This vacancy is open to internal candidates only. Employees should ideally secure their manager's agreement for a secondment prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made. The position is advertised on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave, ending on 01-Mar-2026, with the potential to become permanent in the future.

Main duties of the job
  • Work closely with the Ward Manager and deputise in their absence.
  • Support high-quality patient care, team coordination, and staff development.
  • Ensure compliance with Trust policies, professional, and legal standards.
  • Maintain ward management records and clinical documentation.
  • Participate in audits and implement improvements based on findings.
  • Support the Ward Manager in all aspects of ward management and staff supervision.
Person Specification

Essential:

  • Registered Nurse (relevant branch) with up-to-date clinical knowledge.
  • Leadership skills and experience in supervising others.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including day/evening/night shifts.

Desirable:

  • Post-registration qualifications (e.g., diploma, leadership qualification).
  • Experience in audit, research, and teaching roles.
