Abbey Ward Team has a vacancy for the post of Senior Staff Nurse (Band 6).

The successful candidate will be able to pursue a more clinical pathway in their career.

Reporting to the Ward Manager, you will work in a role encompassing training and development, clinical governance, quality improvement, and developing and implementing comprehensive care plans, as well as engaging in research and shaping inpatient services.

Main duties of the job

Professional responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop your own and the team's clinical skills, knowledge, and professional practice in line with guidelines and service needs, ensuring evidence-based practice.

Support and contribute to the organisation’s clinical governance systems, supporting quality standards and continuous improvement in clinical and service quality.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Act as a clinically focused Senior Staff Nurse within Inpatient Wards, providing support and advice, and liaising with Matrons and community specialist nurses.
  • Support and upskill junior staff, fostering their knowledge and skills.

Be familiar with and practice within the realms of the 1983 Mental Health Act.

Engage in clinical supervision, support clinical standards, and work with ward managers to ensure resource efficiency.
