Job description

We are looking for a keen and dynamic deputy ward manager who has a passion for providing high quality patient centred care on our Emergency floor.

As a deputy ward manager you will be working both days and nights and your role will include coordinating the admission from AE and other sources, working in the ambulatory care area and providing support as a frailty/discharge coordinator.

You will also be involved in the line management of a team of nurses and HCA so this will include sickness management , appraisals and other informal processes.

The Emergency Floor at Worthing Hospital provides acute care for patients with Medical, Surgical and Frail Elderly needs in one area. The Emergency Floor has been recognised both nationally and internationally as a department leading the way in the delivery of modern innovative patient centred care.

We welcome applications from those who currently hold a UK NMC registration. If you currently hold an overseas nursing qualification and require sponsorship we are not currently direct hiring Internationally Qualified Nurses.

The Deputy Ward Manager will support the Ward manager with leading the ward team. In conjunction they will be responsible for promoting an environment conducive to individual and team development to ensure the delivery of high standards of patient care in line with clinical governance.

You will gain experience in caring for patients with many different conditions that are covered by surgical and medical presentations. We also have patients who have complex needs and may be receiving Opti flow, Non invasive ventilation or having cardiac monitoring.

We also plan to open a new SDEC area within the Emergency Floor soon which will add extra learning and opportunities

The role will provide the successful applicant with an array of learning opportunities that occur either in house as well as formally at either the University of Surrey or the University of Brighton.
