Job Title: Deputy Ward Manager – Mental HealthLocation: East SussexSalary: GBP43,014 – GBP46,314 (Dependent on experience) + GBP7,000 Welcome BonusContract Type: Permanent – Full Time (37.5 hours per week)

Are you a passionate and experienced RMN ready to take the next step in your mental health nursing career? An award–winning independent mental health hospital in East Sussex is looking for a dedicated Deputy Ward Manager to join their team and help lead exceptional patient care across acute and private service areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strong clinical and operational leadership on the ward

  • Ensure a high standard of mental and physical healthcare for all patients

  • Support junior staff and promote ongoing development through supervision and mentorship

  • Lead and manage staff on shift, ensuring effective team coordination and patient safety

  • Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and report writing

  • Maintain compliance with relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act

  • Play a key role in staff recruitment, retention, and service improvement initiatives

About You:
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with valid NMC registration

  • Excellent clinical skills and knowledge of evidence–based mental health care

  • Confident in leading shifts and supporting less experienced colleagues

  • Skilled in risk assessment, care planning, and statutory reporting

  • Understanding of CQC standards and Mental Health legislation
