Job Purpose

The VSO Deputy Vessel Manager supports the VSO Vessel Manager in overseeing a fleet of similar-type vessels. The primary objective is to ensure the delivery of safe, reliable, and cost-effective assets that meet customer requirements and expectations. This role involves managing a multi-disciplined team to maintain vessel systems integrity, marine integrity, and operational efficiency, ensuring the successful delivery of assets to the Business Units (BUs).

Job Description
  • Ensure the fleet is ‘fit for purpose’ with respect to the Group’s subsea strategy and anticipated business opportunities.
  • Improve the operational performance of the fleet by managing Marine, Operations, and Technical Services efficiently and optimizing Fleet Projects support.
  • Ensure the timely and budget-conscious execution of maintenance projects affecting asset availability, including marine and system maintenance.
  • Coordinate with ROV, Equipment, and OPS departments to ensure the fleet has necessary equipment and personnel.
  • Collaborate with other VSO vessel managers to optimize staffing requirements.
  • Contribute to the specification of new vessels, especially those under the VSO Vessel Manager’s asset type.
  • Lead and manage Asset Operations personnel to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Participate in the management of the VSO Directorate and regional asset activities, advising the VSO Director Vessel Execution as needed.
  • Ensure vessels are crewed by competent personnel with appropriate succession plans.
  • Maintain vessels to meet organizational standards and requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant UK and International legislation, including IMO/ISM standards.
  • Promote safety and environmental performance within the Asset team.
