What Is the Opportunity?

We are seeking a Casualty Underwriting specialist to join our team as Deputy Casualty Underwriting Officer. You will leverage your expertise in Casualty to support the lead Underwriting Officer and leadership teams across Business Insurance Retail, SME, and Specialty sectors to monitor and grow our Casualty and Third Party portfolios profitably. Your role includes developing and managing underwriting strategies, collaborating across departments, and overseeing portfolio performance to meet growth and profit targets. Travelers Europe offers flexible hybrid working arrangements, and this role is eligible for a £2,500 new joiner bonus, with additional referral bonuses.

What Will You Do?

1. Support strategic underwriting initiatives, including risk appetite, market positioning, and reinsurance solutions.
2. Assist in setting and maintaining rate adequacy, product, and pricing strategies.
3. Oversee rating tools, infrastructure, and rate provision processes.
4. Analyze emerging industry trends and provide underwriting guidance.
5. Mentor and coach underwriting staff to ensure standards and profitability.
6. Establish and review underwriting standards and controls.
7. Respond to regulatory and legislative changes, liaising with relevant bodies.
8. Oversee technical content of underwriting materials and coverage breadth.
9. Perform additional duties as assigned.
