Job summary

Wotton-under-Edge Town Council is seeking a Deputy Chief Executive Officer to join its senior management team and guide the next phase of growth. The role focuses on governance, strategic planning and financial administration to support expanding responsibilities.

You will lead governance processes, support organisational development and work with the Chief Officer to ensure robust controls and accurate reporting for the town council.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in a governance-focused or operational leadership role within a regulated or public-facing environment.
• Experience in budget management and financial administration.
• Proven ability to build high-performing teams by developing capability and enabling staff to deliver confidently.
• An understanding of governance frameworks and preparing for formal decision-making meetings.
• Project management capability to oversee projects and manage competing priorities.
• Effective stakeholder management across councillors, staff, partners and the community.
• Experience supporting organisational change or contributing to improvement initiatives.
