Job summary

Wotton-under-Edge Town Council is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (Town Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer) to lead the organisation through a period of growth and change. You will shape strategy, align councillors' priorities and drive key projects across town centre vitality, tourism, youth services and asset management.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in a Clerk role or leading services within a regulated, public-facing environment.
• Strategic capability to shape priorities and guide transformation and delivery.
• Strong governance and financial grounding with confidence in risk and organisational assurance.
• Experience building organisational culture and embedding new staff as the organisation grows.
• Calm, clear leadership to keep the workforce aligned during evolution.

Responsibilities

• Shape the Council's long-term direction and priorities.
• Lead place-based work including town centre vitality, tourism and youth services.
• Oversee governance, financial management and risk.
• Guide transformation and delivery with elected members.
• Manage Town Hall and Civic Centre asset programme.
