Job summary

Bouygues UK is seeking an Electrical Technical Engineer to support the MEP Unbundled strategy and lead design delivery for London projects. You will assist in delivering design information, manage technical authorisation, and mentor junior engineers, with emphasis on preconstruction stages 3–6 and risk mitigation.

You will engage with MEP consultants and digital design teams, ensuring adherence to RIBA/BSRIA work stages and modern electrical design approaches.

Qualifications

• Experience within a design consultancy / D&B contractor or technical / design management role.
• HND / NVQ in an Electrical or Building Services subject are preferrable, but we’d also consider people qualified by experience.
• Good experience of design and technical responsibility and relevant sector experience.
• Good understanding of project lifecycle, including RIBA and BSRIA work stages.
• Strong Electrical Engineering subject matter knowledge with knowledge of contemporary design approaches, technologies and solutions.
• Ability to communicate well at project.
• Good management and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Member of the MEP Unbundled Strategy Core team.
• Support the Electrical Technical Manager in delivering the design and technical engineering management for allocated project.
• Develop good working relations with the MEP and Digital Engineering Consultants for allocated project.
• Support and provide coaching / mentoring to Junior Technical Engineers.
• Assist in the preparation of MEP consultant appointments.
• Contribute to Designing for Safety and CDM.
• Undertake granular design reviews and manage technical risks and opportunities.
• Monitor and manage MEP design progress.
• Technically review major packages, plant and equipment.
• Validate site installation and system operation against the design.
• Provide technical trouble‑shooting support.
• Promote the BYUK policies and Key Values and function as role model in demonstrating behaviours.

At Bouygues UK, we seek a Electrical Technical Engineer to support our MEP Unbundled strategy. This approach will reduce our reliance on the external market supply chain, aiming to ensure better quality, safety, and control over project timelines.

You will assist the Electrical Technical Manager in the delivery and technical authorisation of Electrical design information; from prequalification to completion with an emphasis on preconstruction (generally but not limited to RIBA Plan of Work Stages 3 to 6 / BSRIA BG6 Stages 3 to 6). Our MEP project values typically ranging from £5M - £130M. You will build and lead effective relationships with MEP Consultants, Digital Engineering Coordinators and Specialist CDP Designers to maximise value/opportunity and mitigate risk.

You will be based in London and supporting the design delivery of projects in London and the South East and cover various sectors Healthcare, Residential, Schools, Health and Life Sciences and Data Centres.

Skills Knowledge & Experience
