Deputy Team Manager - Looked After Children Team
Sanctuary Personnel has a new permanent position available for a Deputy Team Manager within the Looked After Children Team based in Luton. The salary is up to £51,773 per annum.
Responsibilities
- Prevent the separation of children from their families whenever possible and appropriate.
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people.
- Ensure children and young people reach their full potential and have equal access to services available.
- Ensure effective risk management, decision making and preventative working to safeguard children and young people effectively in accordance with statutory requirements and policies.
- Establish the appropriate assessment required and identify the level of need for support/services and/or placements for children and young people.
- Follow procedures to determine the need for care proceedings to be instigated where the risk of significant harm is so great as to warrant a Court Order.
- Maintain effective systems for prioritising, allocating and monitoring workloads and ensure that supervision and appraisal systems are in place to meet children and families’ needs in line with legislation, departmental policies and procedures.
- Contribute to borough-wide services with professional knowledge of an area of specialism on an operational and strategic basis as required.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve team efficiency and effectiveness using managerial performance data; participate in Quality Assurance and monthly audits.
- Develop, support, coach, train and motivate staff to deliver and maintain high standards of social work practice; conduct effective Check-Ins and regular supervision meetings in accordance with the Supervision Policy under guidance of the Team Manager.
- Use advanced professional knowledge and initiative to demonstrate safeguarding in accordance with the Luton threshold document and assess risk to keep children safe, providing advice and direction to staff/clients.
- When requested by the Team Manager, deputise and support in their absence as agreed with the Service Manager.
Requirements
- A social work qualification or equivalent.
- Understanding of relevant legislation.
- Social Work England registered.
