Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an additional deputy team manager to join our Children's First Partnership Hub. As deputy team manager in this first point of contact team, you will effectively provide support to the Team Manager for the day-to-day management and leadership of the Childrens First Partnership Hub, including operational oversight of the Early Help Module (EHM) and Liquid Logic Children's Social Care System (LCS) in accordance with statutory guidance and policy. The role will involve management oversight at triage and screening stages of contacts, and ensuring evidence based, and timely decision making for the children and families of the Wigan Borough. You will support the social workers and CAROs to work with a complex and diverse range of needs and risks including child protection, child in need and early help/ Start Well interventions. The role will require you to be able to deputise for the team manager as and when required, including providing day to day direction
of the team, including Social Workers, CAROs and Business Support Officers. You will work collaboratively with multi agency professionals, including Duty and Locality Teams across Social Care and Early Help to provide effective leadership of the service, ensuring that an outcome focused approach for children and young people is used and maintained.

You will be a qualified, driven and enthusiastic social worker who has significant post qualifying experience. You will have excellent assessment and decision-making skills, particularly in relation to child protection, with an in-depth knowledge of legislation, policies, procedures and be informed by learning from serious case reviews on best practice. You will have knowledge of up-to-date research and social work theories, and the ability to support the learning and development of yourself and others. You will have experience of working in a multi-agency environment, supporting staff to manage competing demands, experience of chairing multi agency or multidisciplinary meetings, providing supervision and experience of quality assuring work driving forward excellent practice standards.

Our Children First Partnership Hub consists of a Service Manager, 3 Team Managers, 2 Deputy Team Managers, 4 Senior Social Workers, 4 Social Workers, 9 Call Advisors and Referral Officers (CAROs), a Business Manager and 4 Business Support Officers, Education Lead, CIDVA, Health Lead and Police.
