Job description

Job Title: Deputy Systems Design Authority

Location: Cowes

Salary: Circa £70,000+ depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:
  • Providing expert technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams working on complex radar systems, including oversight of costs and resources.
  • Applying and championing Systems Engineering principles across the full radar system lifecycle, from requirements capture to system integration, customer acceptance, and support.
  • Supporting system assurance activities to ensure radar solutions meet performance, safety, and customer expectations.
  • Defining and delivering acceptance strategies to verify that system designs comply with technical and contractual requirements.
  • Leading technical reviews to verify that engineering designs and documentation meet business, legislative, and customer standards.
  • Mentoring and supporting the development of engineers, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Maintaining expertise in Systems Engineering methodologies, including Model-Based Engineering, cyber security, and system safety practices.
Your skills and experiences:
  • Strong Systems Engineering expertise with a background in hardware design and development, acting as a Technical Authority.
  • Experience with requirements and configuration management tools (e.g., IBM DOORS Next, JIRA).
  • Deep understanding of engineering lifecycles and models (e.g., Waterfall, Agile).
  • Confident communicator, able to present complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent) with a STEM degree or equivalent experience.
